صَدَقَ اللّٰهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيْمُ وَصَدَقَ رَسُوْلُهُ النَّبِيُّ الْكَرِيْمُ.
My dear brothers and sisters, Mashallah, it's the 6th of Ramadan here. And Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) has granted us the chance to get more and more Ajar. Previously we have described what is the Ajar of Ramadan, keeping fast. And today there will be, Insha'Allah, cleared some concepts about this.
First of all, Rasulullah ﷺ has said, when the first night of the month of Ramadan enters, the Shayatin and the rebellious jinn are being imprisoned. The doors of Hell are being closed, and the doors of Paradise are opened without one door being closed. And a caller from the heavens proclaims, "O seeker after good, proceed forward towards good. O seeker after evil, desist from evil." And Allah has many souls that He sets free from the fire of Jahannam. This happens on every night of Ramadan.
So it means we want Ajar and we want (اثر) the effect. And Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) helps. How He helps, in this Hadith Sharif it has been described. Number one, Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) stops those things who put us in trouble or it means in bad things. For example, Shayatin. Shayatin are imprisoned and they cannot deceive us by putting Waswasa in our heart. So the one source which is Shaitan for bad things, it is controlled by Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی).
The other source which is called Nafs, so... this, because of Ramadan, keeping fast, it is controlled. Because the treatment for Nafs, for stopping it from bad things... it's Mujahada. Because Nafs is such a thing, if you allow it to do something, it will need more, and more, and more, do more, do more, do more. It will never stop. But if you control it and press it and don't allow it to do something, so then it accepts it. Although crying, putting you in trouble, but accept after some time. This is actually the nature of Nafs.
So Mashaikh, they are using this quality of Nafs. They put this Nafs under pressure and keep it under pressure for some time, and then it sets. I should give you a very, very good example which happened with me. There's a disease, hyperthyroidism... thyroid. When thyroid over-activate, then the metabolic rate of the body gets higher and higher, and the weight is losing, losing, losing, and many things are disturbed because of this.
So what the doctors do with this? They give you that medicine which stops the thyroid from working. Either we can say it presses the thyroid not to work, by chemical. And that is stopped. For two years or three years they are giving you medicine, and the work which is done by thyroid, it is done by some medicine, giving T3. The work is done by chemical, and it is stopped by chemical, and for two or three years. After two or three years, when it is released and the chemicals are stopped, so it has set... now it works properly, under control.
What is this? This is the same thing with the Nafs. If you put the Nafs under pressure for some time and you don't allow it to do what it wants to do... so when you will release it, it will be obeying. And it will be doing what is required. This is called Nafs-e-Mutmainnah. So to reach Nafs-e-Mutmainnah level, see the medical problem, it is cured in three years. So maybe it takes a little more time, but it cures also.
So this is the story of how to control Nafs. So Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) has granted us a chance to put our Nafs under control from dawn to night every day for 29 or 30 days. So if we can do it, so Insha'Allah it will take the effect of this. One thing. And the second thing, in this Ramadan, the Ajar is increased too much. As we have explained earlier in talks about Ramadan previous weeks, the Ajar increased too much. So this is the incentive for the people to come to this, to get that Ajar, and that Asar will be automatically achieved. So Mashallah, Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) helps through these things, and we have to do what Allah wants from us in this month.
And Rasulullah ﷺ said, "Every good deed of the son of Adam is rewarded from 10 times to 700 times. Allah says: Fasting is for Me, and I Myself will give the reward. Because man leaves his desires and his food aside for My sake. And verily, the fasting person shall have two moments of extreme pleasure. One at the time of breaking the fast, which is daily in Ramadan. And the other, the moment of meeting his Lord, Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی)."
Why? Because Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) says that "It is for Me, and I shall give the reward." So when he will meet Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) in this condition, that He will grant him the reward, how much pleasure he will be having for this! So this has been told.
And verily, the smell from the mouth of a fasting person is sweeter in the sight of Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) than musk. And verily, fasting is a protective shield. And when any of you fasts, let him not indulge in evil talk and evil task. And if anyone should abuse him verbally or fight with him, let him say to himself: "I am fasting."
So this is the protocol of Ramadan. That one should not attempt in a way which leads him to remove the effects of keeping fast. So if a person tries to fight with him, so he should not bother about this and just tell him, "I am fasting." It means I shall not indulge myself in these things. You see the situation here in afternoon, when you know the time goes down, so the people are fighting with each other... just for nothing! Because they feel fasting hard. So they should perform Zikr at that time. Because it means in their fast there is some missing... that's why they are, you can say, in a harder position. If they will get the Noor of fasting, so then they will not be disturbed. Because if a person has Itminan in his Qalb, satisfaction in his heart, so he will not bother anything about this. But if he doesn't have satisfaction, so then he may quarrel with each other.
So therefore, we should increase that effect by performing Zikr and at least stopping himself to indulge in such things. So if he cannot control, he should not go to those places where this thing can happen. So he should protect himself from evil talks.
And Allah (SWT) says: "And at the night you are permitted to associate with your wives, seeking that which Allah (SWT) had ordained for you. And eat and drink till the white glow of the horizon becomes clear from the dark glow of Fajr, it means dawn. Then complete the fast until the arrival of the night."
So in this, it has been told that in Ramadan, three things are stopped in fasting: one Mubashirat with the wives, second eating, third drinking. So in this Ayah, it has been told in the night you can meet your wives, it's not stopped. Because previously the people would not meet wives even in the night, in Ramadan. It was not allowed at that time. But because of this Ayah, it has been made allowed. And after that, it has been told, continue... you can continue eating and drinking till the time of dawn. And what is dawn? Dawn is that when the dark glow and the light glow of the day, they are separated from each other clearly. So then this will be dawn.
This is the Ayah of Quran describing about dawn. And there is a Hadith also. In that Hadith, it has been told, don't stop eating and drinking because of Azan of Bilal, and rectangular light. But when the spread light appears, then you stop. Mustateer. What is the difference in Mustateel and Mustateer? Mustateel is that which has more height than its width on horizon. And Mustateer is that which has less height than its spread on the horizon.
So if we know these things, so then we shall see how the dawn looks like. Actually it is because of the sunlight. The sun, you can say, it's producing light in all the direction. So it becomes a sphere of light. So when the sun is coming towards the horizon from the night, so it means the whole sphere of the light is coming above. So the sun disk will appear later, then the light of that sphere which reaches the horizon earlier.
So that, if you see, if you see the sphere before you from further distance, you will consider it just as a, you can say, a section of a circle. So this you will see. So this is a suppressed circle, actually, of the light on the horizon, it looks like this. So when you understand this, so if this type of light is coming, which has more spread on the horizon than the height, so in this earlier, the light is lesser, and then it is increasing, increasing till its lights spreads from the sides also.
So this earlier event, when it appears on the horizon, this is at 18 degrees solar depression angle. And the spread from the sides of this disk, this... this starts at 15 degrees. Because the light becomes too much. So therefore, there's difference of opinion, it has start... because it was because of this. But if see, if you see, then you will understand that actually the Hadith Sharif rule is implemented on the first event. Because it has been told don't use Bilal Azan and rectangular light for stoppage. It means that we should observe the light which is spread on the horizon for this. Once it occurs, okay, the requirement is complete. And you should stop eating and drinking at this time.
So the second thing, why it is not for the rectangular light? Because the rectangular light is not coming from the sunlight. It's from the Zodiac. It means those constellations which are around the sun. So when the sun is coming, this glow is also coming. So when this light is seen before the sunlight, so that reflects... that reflection, so that reflection affects our, you can say, horizon, and that is called Zodiac light. And it is false dawn. So we should not depend upon false dawn, but upon the real dawn.
May Allah (سبحانہ وتعالی) grant us Taufiq to perform as good as possible in this Ramadan.
